Dr. Jamil Minnis is an Assistant Professor Series II at the Morehouse School of Medicine. He is a certified member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Minnis received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Dr. Minnis completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Morehouse School of Medicine. As a Board Certified Obstetrician & Gynecologist, it is my honor to provide women with excellent health care. Since completion of my Residency Program in 2009, I have set forth with two main goals in my profession. First, I want to bring healthcare to less fortunate communities, because I believe that it shouldn't matter who you are, everyone deserves the basic human entitlement of healthcare when they are sick. Secondly, I want to train Residents so that they can acquire the necessary skills to provide excellent healthcare along the path of their choosing, and in doing so impact way more lives than I could ever do alone. Throughout my clinical experiences, I have also realized that the best way to impact the lives of communities at large is to help take care of women; since a woman with good health practices will have a positive impact on others in her family unit. I have a special interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery. This interest stems from the wonderment of new technologies that have made healthcare exponentially more efficient. The benefits of minimization of post-operative complications including infections and improved recovery times, resulting in the ability to return to the workforce or normal daily life quickly has numerous cost-benefit advantages.
