Ashley McCann

Ashley McCann is a board certified family medicine physician with primary care sports
medicine fellowship training at Emory University.
Originally from Chicago, Illinois she graduated from Spelman College in 2007 and attended
Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. In 2016 she completed her family
medicine residency in the Cook County-Loyola Family Medicine Residency Program and
was awarded the Resident Teacher of the year award for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Dr. McCann served as the team physician for Decatur High School in Atlanta and on
the sports medicine teams working with Georgia Tech, the Atlanta Dream and the Atlanta
Hawks during her fellowship at Emory during the 2016-2017 seasons. She is currently
involved in two research studies focusing on the effect of sports specialization in
youth athletes and an prevention strategies geared at reducing re-injury in youth
athletes.
