Oluwole Akintayo, M.D.

Dr. Akintayo was born in Nigeria. His family migrated to the United States in 2002,
and he now calls Calumet City, IL, his U.S hometown. He attended the University of
Illinois in Chicago where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience,
and minor in Mathematics. He then attended University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine
for his medical degree. His residency was initially in Emergency Medicine, but later
transitioned to Family Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine, which is affiliated
with Grady Memorial hospital, Wellstar health system, and V.A Medical Center. He served
as chief resident during his residency training. Dr. Akintayo is now board certified
in family medicine.
Dr. Akintayo's interest is to improve the quality of life, and to preserve the life
of his patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He is passionate about
teaching and has had recurring role of teaching EKG, among other topics, to medical
students, physician assistant students and to residents. He is also interested in
evidence-based medicine and has participate in several journal club activities.
Dr. Akintayo is excited to join the Morehouse Department of Family Medicine and looking forward to contributing to the creation and advancement of health equity.
